The Art of Silk Care

Silk rewards a gentle hand. Follow these guidelines to keep your Maison Étoile pieces luminous for years to come.

Fill a basin with cold water and a drop of pH-neutral silk detergent, then gently swirl the garment without wringing or twisting. Rinse in clean cold water and press out excess moisture with a towel.

Dry your silk flat or on a padded hanger in a shaded, well-ventilated space. Prolonged exposure to sunlight fades natural dyes and weakens delicate fibres over time.

Hang silk pieces on padded or wide wooden hangers to preserve their shape and prevent shoulder marks. Give each garment room to breathe rather than crowding the rail.

Release wrinkles with a handheld steamer held a few inches from the fabric. If ironing is unavoidable, use the lowest setting on the reverse side with a protective cloth.

For structured pieces, embellished details or stubborn stains, entrust your garment to a specialist trained in fine fabrics. Always mention that the piece is pure silk.

Somewhere along that journey, I discovered silk. To many, it is simply a luxurious fabric. To me, it became something far more meaningful. Silk carries a quiet elegance that never needs to prove itself. It is soft, yet remarkably strong. Delicate in appearance, yet enduring by nature.

It reminded me of the woman God was shaping me to become. Wearing silk was never about dressing beautifully. It was about remembering my worth, standing with quiet confidence, and embracing femininity as a strength rather than a weakness.

From that place, Maison Étoile was born.
